Heart Machine, the indie studio known for the Hyper Light series, is turning to Patreon as a way to strengthen ties with its audience during tough economic times. Founder Alx Preston discussed this shift at GDC, noting that while the Patreon won’t be a major money-maker, it opens up new avenues for direct interaction with fans. The team is currently working on Hyper Light Breaker, a sequel aiming to blend live-service features, and while feedback has been mixed, there's hope for improvements.
