The developer Rockstar Games, broadly known for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI, and its parent company Take‑Two Interactive are under scrutiny. According to reporting, over 30 employees in the UK and Canada—each tied to organising or intending to join a union—were terminated.

The union in question—Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB)—characterised the move as “the most ruthless act of union‐busting in the history of the UK games industry.”

Take-Two’s response was firm. They issued a statement saying Rockstar “terminated a small number of individuals for gross misconduct, and for no other reason,” and that they “fully support Rockstar’s ambitions and approach.”

The broader context: this event surfaces amid growing tension in the games industry around labour organisation, crunch culture, and the power dynamics between studio leadership and staff. The union alleges serious wrongdoing; the company pushes back by framing this as legitimate disciplinary action.
