This move follows a $3.5 billion deal with Scopely, allowing the company to focus on geospatial AI tech with a new branch, Niantic Spatial Inc. Despite the layoffs, games like Pokémon GO and Monster Hunter Now will still be managed by Scopely. CEO John Hanke expressed gratitude to those affected, stressing that the layoffs aren't a reflection of their performance.
