Civilization VII is turning one, and Firaxis is celebrating with a free update called "Test of Time" this spring. Key changes include the ability to stick with one civilization throughout the game and AI opponents adapting their strategies.

Two new mechanics, Apex Ages and Syncretism, will also be introduced. Apex Ages lets civilizations enjoy their prime era, while Syncretism allows players to adopt features from other civilizations.

The update will enhance victory conditions and replace legacy paths with optional challenges called "Triumphs." A smaller patch will arrive first, introducing quality-of-life improvements and a new leader, Gilgamesh. Will these changes keep you engaged in Civ 7?
