Bandai Namco has shared new insights about Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve in a recent Developer Diary. The game features major upgrades, including aircraft models with 4K textures and a polygon count six times that of the last game. A new weapon system lets players combine different arms for strategic depth, while a cloud engine enhances dogfighting with realistic layered clouds.
Developed on Unreal Engine 5, it offers photorealistic environments using HDRI photos and 3D scans. With a robust single-player campaign and the biggest online mode yet, Ace Combat 8 is set for a 2026 release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Are these upgrades enough to reignite interest in the series?
